Thrift Hack #1: Filter, Filter, Filter
Filtering will be your best friend when you’re sifting through items on our site. You can filter by size, color, brand, style, and more to find exactly what you want. For example, if you’re looking for a floral midi dress for a casual event, we’ve got you covered! In the dress category, choose “Casual” under “Occasion,” “Midi” under “Style,” “Calf Length” under Length,” and “Floral” under “Pattern.” Through filtering you can narrow down your choices and find the perfect item faster than ever.
Want freshness? Filter by New Arrivals
If you visit thredUP a lot, we know you’re always looking for what’s new. You can choose “New Arrivals” under “Ways to Shop” to see everything that’s newly listed.
Want to shop brand new? Filter by “New with Tags”
Shopping new with tags means you get brand-new, unworn items, while still scoring sustainability (and wallet-saving) points. To filter, choose “New with Tags” under “Condition” to shop thousands of items that have never been worn!
Want to see what other people are loving? Filter by “In Someone’s Cart.”
Make sure you have this feature turned on so you can see everything on the site, even if it’s already in someone’s cart. Choose “In Someone’s Cart” under “Ways to Shop” to turn this feature on. If they don’t buy it and it times out of their cart, it’s totally up for grabs! Found a deal in someone’s cart that you absolutely MUST have? Check out hack #8 below to find out how to snatch it up.
Want to only shop for items nearby? Filter by “My Home Warehouse”
If you want your goodies to arrive ASAP, check off “My Home Warehouse” under “Ways to Shop”. This feature will let you only see items from the distribution center closest to you, which will in turn reduce the shipping and delivery impact. The closer the distribution center, the less time your order will take to arrive!
Thrift Hack #2: Save Your Searches
If you have a set of filters you love, you can save them as a search. Do you want to find only like-new, teal J.Crew flats in size 6? You got it. Save a search for them and we’ll send you an email or notification the moment they hit our site. We’ll also let you know if items matching your search have been recently marked down too!
Here’s the full scoop:
— Choose the filters you want to save or enter text in the search bar.
— Click on SAVE THIS SEARCH at the top of the results page.
— Do it as many times as you like.
— Find all your saved searches under the bookmark icon.
Thrift Hack #3: Save Your Sizes
Since all our secondhand items are one-of-a-kind, it’s just a bummer to get excited about things that don’t fit. So, the first thing you should do when you start browsing is to select your sizes. And not just your standard dress size, but ALL your sizes. Waist size, shoe size, you get the picture. And don’t worry, you can easily turn your saved sizes off if you’re searching for an item for someone else.
Thrift Hack #4: Shop by Outfit
Recreating your favorite looks has never been easier with our latest tool. Thrift the Look is a tool that lets you instantly recreate our community’s most-loved looks with similar thrifted styles. Thrift Hack #5: Shop by Brand
Loving Lululemon? Adoring Anthropologie? With over 35,000 brands, it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll be able to thrift from your fave brand on thredUP. Find the filter under “Brands” and type in the particular brand you’re on the hunt for. Check the box once you see it and you’re good to go!

Want more time to get FREE shipping? You need to start bundling. Bundled shipping allows you to bundle multiple orders over a 7-day period and ship them all together. It gives you a bit more time to hit that $79 free shipping threshold and it reduces the number of boxes delivered to your door. Wins all around. You can choose to ship anytime if you change your mind and want your items ASAP.

Thrift Hack #8: Auto-Buy
You know how it’s a super bummer when the item you’ve been eyeing gets snagged by someone else? Well, just because it’s in someone else’s cart does not mean it’s lost to you forever. You can choose to “Auto-Buy” it. Doing so secures that item so, as soon as it gets released, it’s yours. And if you just want to get notified when the item gets released, that’s cool too. Just click on “Get Notified” and we’ll send you an email or push notification (depending on your preference) the second it’s free.
Thrift Hack #9: Favorite Away
Not ready to commit but want to view all the items you love together in one place? That’s favoriting! Just give a heart to all the items you love and tap the heart icon on your top navigation to see all your favorites in one place. It’s perfect for experimenting and creating outfits. It’s also just fun to let others know what you think is great. What items are the most popular on thredUP? Check out how many hearts they have in the product description. Then you’ll know how many others are eyeing your stuff. If something you favorited drops in price, we’ll send you an email right away to let you know so you can snag it ASAP.
