5 Cute Resort Wear and Vacation Outfits for 2018

share this:

Wanderlust usually sets in around this time. In the dead of winter when the temps are literally in the freezing zone. Whether you have a getaway planned or you’re just dreaming of one, nothing takes you out of the here and now like a sartorial pick-me-up. It’s scientifically proven that shopping for resort wear and vacation clothes will give you an instant mood boost. Well, we don’t have any actual data to support that, BUT if our informal office poll is any indication, it’s true. So, there you have it. Can you hear the waves crashing…

This is one trip where you can realistically get away with just a small carry-on. Your wear-everywhere wardrobe hero? A one-piece swimsuit. It’s often overlooked outside of the ocean or the pool but this versatile piece doubles as a chic bodysuit when paired with jean cut-offs or a flowy maxi skirt. Bring at least 2: one classic black maillot and one in a standout print or color. Makes day to night dressing a cinch.

The ease of a maxi dress when you go sightseeing should never be underestimated. Breeze through all the hot spots with nothing but a cross-body bag by your side. Tie a pullover sweater around your waist in case of chilly breezes and always wear walkable shoes. We love flat sandals when your only agenda is to pop in and out of cafes, bars, and museums.

Add a bit of a lift with a pair of strappy espadrilles. For morning coffee runs, go a bit more casual with jogger-style pants and a loose, tucked-in tank and sneakers.

Spending time in nature has been shown to lower stress levels, and so a trip to the woods is in order. We can’t think of a better way to escape the hustle of city life. Take walks in a plaid flannel shirt and denim cut-offs. Have a beer on the deck in your blanket coat and boyfriend jeans. Enjoy a night out at the local pub in a knit skirt and jean jacket.

If you love hats like we do, this is the perfect place to bring them out. We always say, choose your hat, then your outfit. As you know, it can get pretty hot in the desert, so a mini dress and sandals are always in order. Near the pool? Switch up your leather sandals for water-resistant pool slides (Adidas, we love). And that mini dress, keep it on through the evening. Just add statement jewelry and a cute clutch.

Dreaming of: Palm Springs, CA, Santa Fe, NM, Marfa, TX

What to pack:
Mini dress
Cover up
Bikini
Flat sandals
Pool slides
Sunglasses
Wide-brimmed hat
Large tote
Clutch
