5 Ways to Orange Crush It (Yes, You CAN Pull It Off)

share this:

It might be the word orange that throws everyone off. Call it by any other name and we’re swooning. Apricot, coral, peach, melon, tangerine, soft marigold, pumpkin, summer squash. Ahhhh…dreamy. Orange is positive, playful and energetic. It combines the sunniness of yellow with the depth of red. Wear it to channel creativity or to secure your social standing as the life of the party. Remember, orange runs the spectrum from neon to pastel. Find the hue that’s right for you.

Want to uplift your mood in an instant? Here’s some tips to wearing orange.

1. PAIR ORANGE WITH NEUTRALS (BUT NOT BLACK) AND WITH DENIM

Contrast zesty tones with gray, nude, or navy for a modern take. Avoid orange and black for obvious reasons (Halloween!) unless you throw white into the mix. Orange and denim always looks fresh and youthful. Bright patterns on a neutral background are also an easy way to get the positive benefits of wearing orange without committing to a full attention-getting ensemble.

2. MATERIALS MATTER

Fabrics like cashmere, velvet, chiffon, and satin add depth to strong hues. In winter, look for cashmere sweaters, crushed velvet skirts and dresses, and satin blouses. In summer, breezy chiffon blouses, broderie anglasie details, and vibrant suede sandals. It’s all about texture—a rich fabric softens the shade and ups the wearability factor.

3. ORANGE ACTIVEWEAR AND SWIMWEAR

There’s a reason so many swimwear and activewear brands use orange on the reg. The energy from orange is infectious, giving you the boost you need to finish your run or dive off that cliff. If you’re hesitant to bring orange into your real life, test it out at Bootcamp or poolside at the Ace.

4. ACCESSORIZE WITH ORANGE

Dip your toe into the trend with a stylish bag or shoe in an eye-catching shade. Zinging extras add a touch of flair to your tried-and-tested neutrals. Try a pair of burnt orange suede booties with a midi-skirt or bright leather ballet flats with your wide-leg pants.

5. ORANGE IS THE NEW RED IN BEAUTY

A beginner’s color starter pack? Orange-y nails, coral lips, elegant blushes, and statement shadows are an easier-than-easy entry point into the world of color. Keep your outfit basic: pair a pop-color lip with jeans and a white tee.
