4 Outfit Ideas For (Magical) Summer Nights

share this:

Longer days, warmer nights, al fresco happy hours … we love summer, it’s as simple as that. As the long days slip into night, it’s always lovely to switch up your look – summer nights are romantic, and a little magical, but that doesn’t mean you need to put a ton of money and time into your outfits.

thredUP Art Director Chrissi Hernandez (who hails from LA, where it gets a little chilly at night) told us her top four summer night activities, and the easy and chic looks she goes to again and again. Feel free to Pin her outfits (and totally copy her!).

1) Outdoor Movie

To take her outfit from day to night for a movie at the Hollywood Cemetery, Chrissi changes sandals and adds accessories to her outfit. She usually opts for a long necklace and a clutch, in order to add interest but still remain summertime-casual.

Wondering which snack to bring to this kind of event? Chrissi swears by rice crackers, cheese (more Gouda, please!), and a bottle of California Pinot Noir.

2) Backyard BBQ

In the daytime, before she hosts a BBQ at her place, Chrissi likes to wear a shirtdress with flat sandals. Then to dress it up, she adds a leather purse and some accessories.

She admits that her wardrobe is all about being comfortable, so t-shirt dresses are a staple. The best thing about this simple dress style? “You can eat whatever you want and it’s non-constricting. It’s also still super feminine and incredibly comfortable.”

Need some tunes for for your cookout? Chrissi swears by the Phoenix radio station on either Spotify or Pandora.

#3) Rosé With Friends

When? Thursday night after work. Where? Fin, a local hangout by Venice Beach with a great happy hour deal, and a bar behind it to continue the part.

For happy hour with friends, Chrissi likes to go to see-and-be-seen spots that call for a bit more polish. A soft mini skirt with a tee and booties make a fun and feminine going-out outfit that doesn’t take too much effort. “The perfect balance between cute and casual,” Chrissi says of her fave girls’ night look. You can’t go wrong!

4) Date Night

A lightweight T-shirt dress can also be perfect for a summer date night with her husband, according to Chrissi. The loose, airy fabric is breathable, and dressing it up with heels gives the outfit a little extra kick (pun intended).

The last part of the ensemble is a clutch, which Chrissi packs with a small wallet, lipstick, and small comb to combat summer breezes.

in a nutshell, we heart Chrissi’s style philosophy: Be bold with style choices. Don’t think twice about it.

We’re adopting this as our summer fashion mantra, and looking for like-new goodies with that in mind. Inspired? Shop!
