Secondhand Secret: 6 Fashion Week Trends You Can Get in on Now

share this:

The best thing about trends is that they’re cyclical. Newness in fashion isn’t usually about the first-ever appearance of a trend but rather its revival. That’s why shopping secondhand is so awesome. Don’t want to wait until the fashion week trends show up at the stores six months from now? We don’t either. The biggest trends we saw on the runway and on the street are actually available right this minute on thredUP. For real. Refresh your wardrobe with one-of-a-kind finds and fast forward to the new season now.

Colorful Stripes

This season it’s all about making a statement. Color was all over the runways, maximalism is for sure making a comeback. This is not the time to blend in and wear all black and gray. We’re not suggesting you go head-to-toe stripes or anything, but adding a bold rainbow striped top or a whimsical scarf to your outfit can be the perfect pick-me-up.

Not-So Boardroom Blazers

We are a fan. Blazers add instant polish to any jeans-and-a-tee moment. Drape one over your shoulders with that summer dress you’re not ready to give up wearing yet. The look now? Oversized and deconstructed. We’re also having a bit of an ‘80s/’90s tailoring moment, so look for bold padded shoulders like the ones we saw at Tom Ford.

Ruffles

We can’t get enough of ruffles! Unabashedly girly and oh-so fun, ruffles add an unexpected twist to tailoring. Look for them on everything from pretty blouses and romantic dresses to casual tops and sweaters. Find them where you can, we’ve even see them on sneakers and sweatshirts.

Garden Party

From dark and moody to feminine and flirty, florals are officially in bloom. If bold, oversized florals feels too dramatic, try micro-florals. With a vintage-y vibe, this ditsy print is showing up on jumpsuits, maxis, and flowy blouses. To wear the look now, pair with an oversized blazer and ankle booties.

Red

Is red the new millennial pink? It did not go unnoticed that one of our favorite pink-obsessed beauty brands recently launched a new product with a bright stripe of red on its packaging. It must be official. Are you red-y to try it? The universally flattering color has the power to boost your mood in an instant. Wear it to feel confident, bold, and in control. And don’t forget, it actually looks amazing paired with pink.

Glam Rock

Edgy is always a favorite look of ours. Mainly because it means we’re wearing our favorite designers—Topshop, Free People, Zara BCBGMAXAZRIA, and Steve Madden. Look for leather (always), sheer details, lace, and statement prints.
