THINK PINK: 5 WAYS TO WEAR THE COLOR WE’RE ALL CRUSHING ON

share this:

If the last time you wore pink you also had pigtails and a floral backpack, read on. Pink is BACK.

Maybe you’re curious about the phenom that is Millennial Pink or you got Pink on our color personality quiz (compassionate chill person, we’re looking at you). It’s time to reintroduce it to your wardrobe. Pink is the color of love and a sign of hope. Wearing shades of pink can have a calming effect on others and can help you to relax in tense moments. It’s universally flattering and oh-so-chic. Also, pink is the color of rosé. That is not going unnoticed.

Here are five ways to bring pink into your grown-up life. (Wait, am I a grown-up?)

1. MIX THE FEMININE WITH MASCULINE

Even for diehards, head-to-toe pink can be a little too sweet. For an edgier look, pop pink in a rebellious way and pair it with menswear elements. An oversized pale pink sweater with a sleek pencil skirt. A hot pink tee under a leather jacket. Or a tailored vest or blazer in a standout fuchsia color. Just add faded jeans and a white tee.

2. TRY A PINK TOPPER

Aren’t quite ready to banish your all black/white/gray style uniform? Just add a pink topper. A short trench or long duster coat is an easy commitment. An outerwear piece in the sugary shade looks polished and sophisticated. In the spring and summer months, try a pink caftan or cover-up.

3. USE PINK AS AN ACCENT COLOR

Want to dip your toe into the pink fashion trend? From slides to sneakers, you can find shoes in every shade of pink imaginable. Looking to boost your everyday with rosé? For day, try a leather bucket bag or cross-body in the palest of pinks. For evening, tote a hot pink clutch for the ultimate statement piece.

4. PUT PINK IN NEUTRAL

Dusty rose pink (a.k.a. millennial pink) naturally complements your favorite neutrals—blacks, whites, grays, and beiges. In fact, we’re going to go out on a limb and say that dusty rose pink is a neutral. Because, well, it looks boss with pretty much every other color. Hint: It’s a great shade for your wardrobe but it’s also a great shade for your walls. Just saying.

5. DARE TO GO TONAL

Feeling brave? Go head-to-toe for a full pink outfit. There is an art to this though. Mix similar hues for a chic monochromatic look. Break up the matchy-matchy with a cool print. Add black shoes and accessories to ground the look. You can do it! We approve. Always.
