Time to geek out on a little animal science: there may or may not be a new whale species. Phillip Morin of NOAA’s Southwest Fisheries Science Center in California put it well, “It’s just so exciting to think that in 2016 we’re still discovering things in our world—even mammals that are more than 20 feet long.”[Popular Science]
Monday evening a storm rolled into New York city, and produced quite the spectacle: a lightening bolt hitting the Empire State building, on camera no less. Apparently the building gets hit by lightening around 23 times per year so no need to worry, but the video of it is still really cool. [Gothamist]
