San Francisco’s Color Factory Creates Instagram Frenzy and Earns Every ❤️

share this:

When we heard that the Color Factory was launching right around the same time as our color campaign we knew we were on to something. The power of color to transform your mood and brighten your everyday cannot be understated. For those of you who haven’t experienced the color explosion on your Instagram feed, the Color Factory is an interactive exhibition with a concept similar to the Museum of Ice Cream. A real life Willy Wonka tour.

There is a room dedicated to every color in the rainbow and features one-of-kind installations by 15 artists, creatives, and collaborators: a giant yellow ball pit, a life-size Rainbow Brite, a room that rains colorful confetti, a giant coloring book wall, a scratch and sniff room, and SO much more.

While we’d love if every one of our readers could experience it firsthand, we thought the least we could do was share it with you in pictures and captions. We’re so stoked and lucky to have this temporary pop-up in our hometown. Here is a curated collection of some of our favorite moments. And if this doesn’t inspire you to wear color, well then, we’re sending lots of 🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈  your way.

The Color Factory was built by Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day with creative direction by Leah Rosenberg and art direction and design by Erin Jang. Photo: @colorfactory

Selfie (the lavender room): London-based artist Tom Stayte’s installation automatically prints Instagram photos seconds after they are uploaded with the #selfie. You can even print your own image on the spot. Photo: @sshhheid

Olfactory Memories: Scratch and sniff your way through a bed of roses, birthday cake, and a Halloween stash. Who knew there was a scent associated with driving on HWY 1 with the top down, tunes up. Photo: @sshhheid

“The Color Factory was an explosion of the senses. From the scratch-and-sniff Olfactory Memories to the 207,000-ball pit, every room allowed me to channel my inner 5-year-old. It’s total Instagram bait. The hardest part was trying to look up from my phone and take in the art with my own two eyes.” – Jess, thredUP staffer
