How To Spice Up Your Holiday Party Look (On A Budget)

share this:

Just in case you somehow were unaware, we are right smack in the middle of one of our one of our biggest and BEST contests ever. Really! The thredUP Merry Making contest! What’s that, you ask? It’s quite simple. This holiday season, being who are, and doing what we do, we’re celebrating the holiday season a little differently. We’re proud of decorating with mostly repurposed materials, and we are also singing the praises of rocking secondhand festive looks for all of our gatherings. The holiday season can be downright wasteful, and we reject that.

If you Instagram a holiday craft made with repurposed materials and/or a holiday look (it could be yours, your kiddo’s, your BFF’s) that features secondhand items with #secondhandfirst and @thredUP, you’ll be entered to win $500 to shop with us. Two runners-up will each get $250. That’s $1000 worth of amazing shopping prizes. Oh, and there’s no limit to how many times you enter. If you have multiple holiday crafts and looks, color us impressed. The more the merrier! We’ll pick winners randomly on January 4th! Make sure your Instagram is set to public so we can see your entries.

Place an order today and look out for a free Merry Making guide in your order! It’s full of fun stickers and tips for celebrating with repurposed materials. To get inspired while you shop for holiday looks, here a few festive trends we’re seeing.

Carolyn (@mychicobsession), Dani (@danimariekrum), and Rachel (@rachelsayumiporter) are loving neutral dresses. Neutrals are a great choice, because bold accessories will really pop when paired with these frocks. Switch up those accessories to take one dress to several parties!

Another trend we’re seeing? Fancy separates! Rocking a skirt to your holiday fêtes is a great idea. Got an extra sparkly top? Tone it down a bit with a subdued pencil skirt. Plaid skirts are also merry.
