As the stay-at-home mom of a three-year-old daughter and four-month-old son, Cams DiPaola knows the endless cycles of feedings, naps and diaper changes all too well, which is why she decided to carve out a corner of the Web where she can flex her creative muscles. Her blog, Life in Mod, she says, “has really helped to keep me motivated, inspired and connected with other mamas these past few years.” It’s also where she shares her personal style, which she describes as “classic with some Euro thrown in.”

Having just purchased her first home, Cams is all about shopping on a budget at the moment. “I love the thrill of the find. Why spend $50 when you can spend $5?” So we asked the stylish saver to put together three affordable outfits — two for her, one for her daughter — using thredUP.

Casual with a pop of color. For a day of running errands with her little ones in tow, Cams chose an outfit that’s comfortable but doesn’t sacrifice style. Her military-style olive green shorts (like this Juicy Couture pair) are balanced out by a flowy white top from Velvet, creating an effortless, flattering day look. A hot pink cardigan from Avenue adds the perfect hint of bright color and strappy nude Steve Madden heels emphasize her long legs.

Dressed for the occasion. For a dressier look, Cams likes a similarly relaxed and feminine white top (this one from Maeve is another great example) tucked into a clean-lined pencil skirt. To keep things fun, she chose a white and blue spring skirt from Tory Burch. And again, she enjoys adding a pop of unexpected color, this time via the hint of red on her nude heels (shown above).

Kids’ club. Cams’ daughter Maddie is growing up fast and has a style, thanks to her mom, with just the right balance of casual and cute! A simple Children’s Place white top and denim Levi’s capris provide a blank canvas for fun add-ons, like a hot pink Old Navy cardigan to match her mom’s and tie-dyed Converse high-tops with puffs of pink and purple tulle. It’s a look colorful enough to please a little girl, and casual enough to run around the playground.

Cams’ love of thrift shops and simple, elegant sense of style really mirrors her view on the happy life she leads in South Carolina with two kids, an awesome husband and two dogs. “The art of being happy lies in the power of extracting happiness from ordinary things” is a quote she found that “pretty much sums it all up,” Cams says.
