The beginning of summer is my favorite time to start experimenting with my style, and the Summer Shop felt like my one-stop shop for EVERYTHING I needed to refresh my closet.

Before diving into thredUP’s Summer Shop, I suggest making a list of things you need or want to have, and keep your style in mind. It’s sooo easy to splurge on thredUP since everything’s so affordable, so to avoid spending hours looking, I make a list! Plus, I like getting straight to the point when shopping.

My everyday style is effortless, easy, and a little edgy, so I really go for summer looks that are super quick to style and super versatile. My top three style needs for summer are the following:

  1. Comfy T-shirts. So versatile! I can elevate any T-shirt by cuffing the sleeves. You’d be surprised at how different your shirt will look.
  2. Lots of accessories. I wear simple, lightweight pieces in the summer because I don’t like being too hot. So I balance a plainer outfit with a pair of fun sandals or a stack of bracelets.
  3. Lean into summer fabrics. Light cotton, linen, and anything that allows you to breathe are going to be your best friend!

Onto the outfits I scored!

The Everyday Summer Outfit

I’ve been into longer skirts lately because I like how they flow. I love this look for a weekend brunch or farmer’s market shopping! The black floral skirt from Anna Sui for Anthropologie is so nice because even though it’s black, it’s lightweight and has the contrast of the bright flowers. Plus it was only $24! I wanted to keep the attention on the print of the skirt, so I paired it with an easy black tee. A lot of people think you can’t mix brown and black, but you absolutely can. These honey brown espadrilles match my crossbody bag (perfect for a hands-free weekend) and act as neutrals.

How to get the look:

I ALWAYS keep my sizes saved. From waist size to dress size. That way I only see items in my size which cuts down time spent browsing.

For the skirt, I tapped into the Summer Shop’s Printed Skirts category and used thredUP’s handy filters to refine what I was looking for. I knew I wanted darker colors with a floral pattern, so I filtered by color and floral prints. You can also filter by length to really zero in on what you’re envisioning.

The Elevated Summer Outfit

This rust-tone STAUD wrap dress (I got it 85% off!) is perfect for a bridal shower, daytime wedding, or even a date night. I’m wearing it with low gold heels because I wanted it to feel fancier, but it would look just as cute with flat nude sandals. I paired with the gold shoes to bring up the orange in the dress, then finished by layering some dainty necklaces to drape just within the neckline area.

How to get the look:

While I pretty much live in maxis all year round (I’m a layering pro), I knew I wanted to up the ante for my summer events this season. I filtered that style out and filtered by bright colors only (like red and white) so that I would find the perfect summery dress.

Sometimes I feel like shopping for unworn items (like swimsuits). I filter by New With Tags to see brand new items. It’s retail quality without the retail price, plus I’m still buying clothes that already exist instead of something new.
