About the Role

At thredUP, we have a small mobile team working to revolutionize the clothing industry by leveraging the Android platform to create the best mobile ecommerce shopping experience possible. If you want to be a part of an engineering team that cares a lot about each other, our culture, our codebase, and building a successful company, we'd love to hear from you.


  • Feature development for our Android application through all channels.
  • Working with the product team, mobile designers, and other engineers to create a truly delightful mobile experience.
  • Helping to develop and instill best practices for the mobile engineering team.
  • Helping to evolve team processes (code review, release planning, etc.).
  • Managing the app’s bugs, crashes, and user inquiries.


  • 2+ years of production level Android engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with Android Studio, gradle, and coding in Java.
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs, FCM, Recycler View, View Pager, adapters, and dealing with complex fragments and adapters in an activity.
  • Understanding of the nuances of Android XML layouts, and how to create adaptive interfaces that work for multiple device form factors.
  • High UX standards.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest Android components while maintaining backward compatibility
  • Preferred: Computer Science Degree.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Google Material Design guidelines and best practices.
  • Preferred: familiarity with third party libraries such as Volley, Butterknife, Glide
  • Knowledge of Kotlin is a plus
