About the Role:
The Merchandise Coordinator is primarily responsible for making sure we purchase inventory that is up-to-date, on trend, and from top selling brands and categories through our in house web application. This person is responsible for auditing products & categories for our website and identifying errors before they reach the customer. The Merchandise Coordinator’s goal is to only put items into inventory that are on-trend for the thredUP customer and make sure that the item is tagged appropriately with the correct item details.


  • Ensure all items meet thredUP’s quality standards by auditing every stage of the process of production
  • Maintain individual goal of 300+ units per hour for high productivity
  • Attribution defect rate test: 75% accuracy
  • Work closely with Merchandisers to understand what thredUP is buying, by choosing on-trend women and kids’ merchandise that will sell (drive sales)
  • Communicate with the Merchandising and Training team around brands and categories that do not fit thredUP’s brand image
  • Provide appropriate and timely feedback to Merchandisers as issues surface
  • Collaborate with warehouse associates to problem solve and answer questions related to quality standards
  • Assist in the creation of a compelling product experience to include inspirational merchandise presentation and accurate product details
  • Audit website daily to ensure proper functionality of photography, categories and attributes so they are aligned to meet or exceed customer expectations and drive results
  • In-depth understanding of all operational job functions in order to identify the root cause of any issues, take corrective action to resolve the issues and offer training feedback.
  • Support and work with team members on Slack (thredUP’s communication platform) to address problems, answer questions and identify opportunities
  • Attribution defect rate test: 85% accuracy
  • Partner with new Merchandise Coordinators by providing feedback and help when needed
  • Highly confident in communication to all necessary team members
  • Able to help Merchandiser with pricing, authentication and off-trending of product
  • Own special projects by delivering exceptional results and exemplify time management skills
  • Lead the communication with the Ops team and pull together data to bring floor issues to their attention and suggest solutions
  • Responsible for a weekly analysis for Merchandisers, address the week’s progress and pull metrics from the dashboard
  • Participate in the interview and training process of new Merchandise Coordinator and give qualitative feedback


  • 1+ years of retail, fashion, merchandising, or equivalent is preferred
  • Passion for Ecommerce, fashion, visual merchandising & customer experience
  • Able to work in front of a computer for 4 hours at a time and up to 7 hours in a day.
  • Must be able to work 20 hours per week + mandatory overtime when needed + hourly role
  • Must have access to laptop/computer and reliable wifi
  • Problem solving and result driven and strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable interacting with all levels of the organization, from supervisors, leads and executives.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn computer systems quickly
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, and often-changing environment
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team with a positive attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Exemplifies professional behavior by maintaining punctuality and respecting others
  • Reports to Merchandising Department

Sun-Thurs (Sun: 730pm-4am) and Mon-Thurs(9:30pm-6am)
