About The Role

As the Retail Inventory Manager, you will have ownership over the assortment planning, ordering, and management for the retail and partnership stores.  A retail inventory manager is responsible for planning, selecting and purchasing quantities of goods and merchandise that are sold in retail and partnership stores. They source new items and review existing items to ensure their assortment remains relevant and unique to each store location.  This buying position will oversee all categories that are purchased for any retail location. This position will have the responsibility of advanced product planning and execution of the product stories in our retail stores in collaboration with the visual merchandising team.  

*thredUP is relocating to Oakland in Fall '19. This role will be expected to work in SF until then.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement an inventory tracking system to optimize inventory in the retail and partner store locations (physical channels).
  • Daily monitoring of inventory levels in DC and across all physical channels
  • Monitor market changes and trend changes and react quickly to implement in the store. Manage weekly reports. Publish reports and findings in retail and at a corporate level
  • Forecast and analyze sales patterns to anticipate trends in the consumer buying pattern.
  • Recommend and implement events, promotions, and pricing strategies, while driving business and profitability. 
  • Create detailed reports on sales and inventory levels that can be shared through the team 
  • Ability to allocate to retail and partner store locations
  • Communicate internally and externally about business needs and requirements with a high level of business acumen
  • Assist visual merchandisers in planning store layouts.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in inventory planning and management as well as buying 
  • An analytical mind with strong attention to detail along with creative problem-solving skills
  • Solid knowledge of retail data analysis, inventory management processes, and forecasting techniques
  • Excel superuser; Looker experience nice to have
  • Strong sense of style with a discerning eye
  • Able to work in a very communicative and collaborative work environment but also able to make decisions quickly and execute.
  • Ability to plan and build out assortment plans and merchandising strategies.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence other teams effectively.
  • Highly efficient, organized and an excellent communicator with strong leadership abilities
  • College Degree or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, move fixtures and furniture, being handy with tools is always a plus.
  • Must have a clean driving record and pass a background check.
