OshKosh B’gosh is by far one of the most popular children’s clothing brands in the world and it quickly became a household name for parents. With a variety of different garments ranging from luxurious formalwear to comfortable sleepwear, parents can find all of the right girls’ clothing and boys’ clothing for their kids. Similar to Gymboree, their casual clothing is comfortable and durable. Their more structured pieces emulate Gap Kids and can help to create the perfect outfits for your children.
OshKosh B’gosh was originally founded in 1895 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. At first the company started their roots in making work clothing for adults but as the years progressed, they became known for their children’s clothing. In 1960 the brand gained most of its traction by releasing a national catalog that featured children’s overalls. With all of the parents that were interested in the products they had to offer, the company started selling their children’s items in department stores, eventually moving to expand their collection to include shirts, bibs, socks, and accessories. In 1979 the majority of the items that they sold were children’s clothes (15%) and this only increased by 1993, when children’s clothing made up 95% of their sales. By 2000 the brand begun to lose its popularity and ended up having to outsource the manufacturing of their clothing, eventually closing their Oshkosh facility.
Today, you’ll notice that the brand is just as successful as other kid’s clothing labels such as Gymboree and Gap Kids. You can find sweaters, tanks, jeans, pants, shirts, and of course their notable overalls. As a parent you can easily find items for children of any age as their target audience includes: babies, infants, toddlers, children between the ages of 4 and 7 and youth between the ages of 5 and 12. It’s simple to find their products simply because there are over 100 different independent stores located throughout the United States or you can also buy them online.
There isn’t a particular “style” that you’ll find with their boys’ and girls’ clothing, primarily because they want to cater to any type of shopper. For example, you won’t find haute couture pieces for children from their brand. Instead, OshKosh B’gosh focuses on what children are interested in and what would look best on them as a whole, such as cute cartoon characters, unique slogans, and comfortable garments that they can wear throughout the seasons.
