Giving clothes a second life is very much our thing, but giving your items a longer life is a greeeat place to start. Read on for clothing care tips that are absolute musts and send to a friend (you know the one) that could definitely use these tips.

Washing 101

There are sooo many rules when it comes to washing clothes, it gets complicated quickly. Our main washing tip is simple—less is more! Having clean clothes is a must, but the more you wash, the more wear your fabrics experience that shortens it’s lifespan in your closet. Plus, more wears between washes means you’re also saving water AND energy. Carbon footprint, who??? Here’s how many times you should wash these clothing types.

Tops– Wash after 1 wear

Dresses– Wash after 3 wears

Lounge clothes– Wash after 3 wears

Jeans– Wash after 4 wears

On the Mend

Mending or upcycling your clothes doesn’t have to be a daunting project! Whether it’s pilling on your emotional support sweater or a hole in your fave blouse, we got you covered on easy hacks to fix ’em up yourself.

For pilling: Use a razor to shave away excess pills and leave a like-new finish.

For stuck zippers: Rub lip balm on the zipper track for smooth zip.

For loose buttons: Apply clear nail polish on top of button threads to secure it in place.

For holes: Pick your fave patch and iron it on over said hole for a personalized touch.

Stains, be gone!

Whoopsie! moments happen— it doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road for your closet faves. Here’s how to be your own clothing hero and save those spills!

Red wine– Dab white wine, baking soda, then rinse.

Condiments– Apply dish soap, then soak item.

Grease marks– Spot clean with vinegar, then wash.

Coffee/tea– Dab with water-detergent mix then apply vinegar

Face makeup– Work shaving cream into stain, then rinse.

Lipstick– Dab with alcohol, then spritz with hairspray.
