Frequently Asked Questions

• What does Beta mean?
  

  Direct Listing is a new feature under development that lets you list items directly in the ThredUp app. Help us make Direct Listing great by giving feedback.

• How does listing & earning work?
  

  Listing is done via the ThredUp app only. Follow the guided flow to create a new listing.

  • Up to 30 items can be listed at a time and sellers set the price for items.
  • Direct listings must have a minimum price of $20. If you want to list items under $20, we suggest ordering a Clean Out.
  • There are no selling fees. Sellers keep 100% of earnings.
  • ThredUp charges a small fee to buyers to facilitate listings. This will be included in the buyers price but will not count towards your earnings.
• When do I get paid?
  

  Sellers get paid when the buyer receives the item and accepts the sale. This sale is automatically accepted 4 days after delivery.

• How do returns work?
  

  With Return Protection, buyers have the ability to return items for any reason to ThredUp. Sellers have the option to add Return Protection to boost the listings chance of selling. The cost of adding Return Protection comes out of the sellers payout. Buyers can purchase Return Protection at checkout. Assuming the item received matches the description, sellers payouts are not impacted and sellers are not responsible for the item after the initial sale.

• How does shipping work?
  

  When your item sells, you’ll receive a pre-paid shipping label and will need to ship your item to the buyer within 7 days. Buyers appreciate fast shipping and can cancel orders that are not shipped within 7 days.

• What can I list?
  

  ThredUp accepts worn and new women’s and kids’ clothing that meet our quality and condition standards, including:

  • All women's clothing
  • Bodysuits and swimwear
  • Maternity and plus-size clothing
  • Matching sets
  • Shoes
  • Watches (no smartwatches)
  • Tights (new with tags only)
  • Accessories, including belts, hats, scarves, gloves, and sunglasses
  • Bags, including wallets, laptop bags, weekenders, coin purses, makeup bags, diaper bags, and backpacks
  • All kids clothing
  • Kids costumes
• Can I list luxury items?
  

  Our Direct Listing selling option cannot support items from certain luxury brands. Some common examples are below and a full list is available when listing in the app. Any items you wish to sell from these brands can be done through our Clean Out selling option.

  • Gucci
  • Chanel
  • Louis Vuitton
  • Armani Collezioni
  • Max Mara
  • Burberry
  • Giorgio Armani
  • Salvatore Ferragamo
  • St John
  • Prada
• What products are ineligible for direct listing?
  

  Direct Listing isn’t available for some luxury brands and the following categories:

  1. "Free with purchase" promotional items
  2. Non-clothing items: toys, books, sports gear, handbag charms, etc.
  3. Men's clothing and accessories
  4. Jewelry (except watches)
  5. Items without sizes (exceptions made for luxury brands and Lululemon)
  6. Undergarments and slips
  7. Sleepwear, slippers, and robes
  8. Wedding dresses
  9. Formal gowns
  10. Work uniforms
  11. Adult costumes
  12. Local or niche clothing
  13. Clothing with graphics or reference to local teams and places that do not have a broad national audience
  14. Items that feature language or content that is deemed inappropriate for a family-friendly audience
  15. Tablet and phone cases
  16. Hair accessories
  17. Maternity bands
  18. Homemade or altered items
  19. Counterfeit items or accessories
  20. Items obtained illegally or containing sensors
