Meet The Thredit Editorial Team

Hey thrifters, I'm Kaila! I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area and I've been copywriting at ThredUp for almost four years. Me and fashion go way back. As someone who grew up violently shy, I got used to letting my outfits speak for me from a very young age. At the beginning of my relationship with fashion I was OBSESSED with America's Next Top Model. I saw runways in my future until I realized I only had the height potential to reach about 5'5'. From then I pivoted to drawing clothes because I swore I was going to be the next Vera Wang. My sketching skills weren’t necessarily great (maybe they would've gotten better if I stuck with it), but at that time fashion magazines were my best friends. Sooner than later I realized that writing was going to be my way in. I started my copywriting journey at The Real Real and knew immediately the fashion resale space was where I belonged. Thrifting and the culture around selling clothes has always had a large presence in my life. Whether it was selling my discounted clothes from my retail jobs to get by as a broke college student or selling my clothes to raise money for charities, I loved it all.

A fun fact about me is that I'm also obsessed with astrology (Aquarius sun, Taurus rising, Capricorn moon!). My favorite thrifted find from ThredUp, is this gray Brunello Cucinelli track jacket with the Monili trim on the sleeves. My style icon is definitely Zendaya, I love how she toggles between masculine and feminine styles. My go-to sources for fashion inspiration are Pinterest and 90s television shows. I would describe my style as polished, streetwear, and androgynous. I honestly prefer thrifting over buying new, mostly because I don't like having the same clothes as other people, and it feels good that it's the sustainable choice. 

Hello there! I’m Briana, the senior copywriter at ThredUp. I’ll be here to bring you inspo on mixing prints, playing with color and texture, and even some DIY creations powered by secondhand finds. I’ve worked in online retail and fashion for about a decade. It’s a far cry from my humble beginnings as a music journalist, but in a way it’s really not. Music and fashion are both art forms and my passions are fueled by the kind of art you can experience every single day. Self-expression is what gets me out of bed every morning. Being able to connect with others through the clothes I wear and the words I write is such a gift. Because at the end of the day, clothes are so much more than just stitched-together fabric. They are the vehicle in which we face the world every day. And keeping them out of landfill is my favorite part of working for and shopping with ThredUp. 

I’m also a proud mom of three! My middle child is a budding fashionista themselves and will definitely be making cameos on Thredit just like they do on my Instagram and TikTok. I’m so looking forward to spreading the joy of fashion far and wide and challenging everyone to continue to think #secondhandfirst.
